Frequently Asked Questions

1. I just want to work, not worry about my books. Does Silvertrek do everything?


In short, no, we don't. First of all, it's easy to mix up "administrative" work with "accounting" work. While we'll help where we can, we won't transcribe your emails for you because you don't touch-type, and we can't do a lot of things that in-house help can do, like open your mail, and print things off for your customers.


More importantly, you must do some things in order to retain control of your business. It's good to review the bank statement, for example, and we'll require you to approve items before we take action: payroll, invoices from your vendors, and cash disbursements.


Finally, we have several packages available. Usually, we'll teach you how to invoice your customers, but we don't do it for you.


2. I need bonding, what do I do?


You need to get clean financial statements, that follow Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)! We can help you prep for this by getting your books in order.


The first step is to job-cost EVERYTHING related to jobs. If you're already doing this, great! then we can move to the second step: a valid Work in Progress (WIP) report.


Typically, new bookkeeping customers that have not yet job-costed their expenses will be able to get a valid WIP after two or three months of working with us.


3. How will I be billed?



There are two parts to your bill: Your tech package, and your add-on bookkeeping services. Once we reach agreement on your scope of work, we'll bill you on the first of the month for the following month. This money will be automatically transferred to us via ACH.


4. I'm being audited, can you help?


Yes, we can help with most audits, including IRS, US Dept. of Labor, state agencies, and private insurance audits. 


5. Is the onboarding going to be painless?


Nope! It is going to be a lot of work for you AND for us. Nothing moves without friction, and there will be a lot of movement to get you up and running on Silvertrek's system. However, we've gone thru it before, and our stewards and checklists are there to make sure everything is done right.


In general, when we take over books, there are things we need to do that need to be reviewed. You will be responsible for much of this review.
